Just say no
Deciding to diet is easy – it's sticking with it that's the really hard part. The Slim∙Fast team have come up with their top tips to stay on track.
Dear diary
Many dieters keep a food diary, listing what they've eaten every day. But a record of the quantity and kind of food you crave, along with the emotions you’re feeling at the time, can help you make the connection between your mind and body.
Also list whether you've given in to the craving or not – and be honest!
Plan ahead
If you're constantly hungry it's no wonder you're dreaming of food. Banish those blues, get organised and write up a clear plan of what diet-friendly meals and snacks you'll be eating and when.
Ensure you've stocked up with all the ingredients you'll need for your main meals of the day. And if you're pining for a sweet treat, keep a stash of Slim∙Fast Optima snack bars at hand to quench a craving for chocolate.
Know when to weaken
Cravings often pass after fifteen minutes so try to tough it out when you feel the urge to indulge. But if you're still hankering for something sinful after trying to best to steer clear, treat yourself to a small amount and promise to strengthen your resolve for next time.
Most importantly, remember that one mistake doesn’t mean you’ve failed your diet for good. The key is to get back on track quickly, with the next meal.
